Outside Activity Impact
Family
life suffers when one parent is driving to dance while the other is
carpooling to ball practice. Meals are missed, families aren’t eating
together, homework is forgotten, while friendships and relationships
are neglected.
Younger children may develop behavior problems, school-age children
may experience falling grades and adolescents may suffer from sleep
deprivation. The family is stressed!
Over-scheduling is the result of our desire for our children to be
well-rounded, however children who lead over-scheduled lives, may
fail to develop the skills that really lead to success in life.
When too much time is spent on structured activities, kids miss out
on important childhood experiences and families miss out on making
memories, which is the foundation for happy, fulfilling lives. Today's
overachieving children are missing out on being kids!
